About Claritas

Welcome to Claritas: The Journal for Catholic Culture and Arts

Claritas is devoted to reflecting and promoting thoughtful discussion on all matters relating to the transformation of culture and arts in relation to Catholicism.

Our belief is that, to quote Pope St John Paul II from Centesimus Annus: “At the heart of every culture lies the attitude man takes to the greatest mystery: the mystery of God.”

We believe, along with the Church Fathers, that the greatest influence on our attitude to the mystery of God is an activity, the activity of the worship of God in the sacred liturgy.

This means we discuss all these related matters – liturgy, the culture of faith and engagement with the wider, contemporary culture, which reflects the whole spectrum of everyday human activity, with a view to transforming the current culture into one that reflects the beauty of God more directly.

We ask that you pray for us, as we will keep you in our prayers.

Below is a copy of the Prayer for Inspiration and Wisdom:

Oh God who art our only help and redeemer, be in our thoughts and words and deeds.

Send thy Holy Spirit to guide us that we may ever do thy will, grace responding to grace.

May the wisdom of our deeds and the beauty of our lives inspire those who see us to love

as Christ loved, that through praise of thee and charity to others, all may know His peace

and joy.

Through Christ, Our Lord. Amen
